The impact of builder's rubble on water quality
A state government agency engaged Murrang to provide urgent advice on the potential impact of placing builder's rubble in an urban reservoir.
Using a conceptual source-pathways-receptor model, we identified the potential ecosystem risks to water quality and aquatic life of the reservoir and waterways downstream. Our assessment outlined the risks posed by chemicals potentially occurring in the reservoir and its sediment, the impacts of releasing these chemicals by disturbance, and options to mitigate this.
